does not walk nearly enough, if anyone hits .400 again, i think they will have slightly over 500 official AB mark.. i dont think with 630 official AB's that it will be done,,,
you guys remember when brett shot at it,, he was injured for a while and came back hot,, he was just over 502 official AB's, i think this is the way that it will have to be done, if ever it is done again...
I hope that he does challenge .400 - great for baseball!
He is surely the best singles-hitter ever and will retire one
day with the highest lifetime BA.
As a person, he is also a credit to his native country and
now to his "super-star" status.
People forget about the prolonged slumps in 02 and 03. This guy is good, but he can hang a .270 in any given month. Last year was about as perfect as I can see it getting for Ichiro.
I say he hits under .350, not that there's anything wrong with that.
its going to take a guy -- getting hot and then getting injured and then coming back hot.. that sounds stupid but i remember -- that is what brett did..
no one has done it since williams in 1941.. what a year, he didnt even win MVP that year, someone named dimaggio won it -- with a 56 game hit streak, what a year in baseball,, and then pearl harbor was bombed in the offseason..

I thought Olerud had a shot in 92 (or was it 93?) He ended up around .365 after a horrible final 5 or 6 weeks. I'm pretty sure he was around .420 in JUNE!
Helton didn't miss by much a few years ago. I think he hit .350 on the road and well over .400 at home. I give him the best shot of any active player just beacause of Coors. He'd need everything to go right of course, and with his back I doubt it ever will.
